GLYN PR: “Hello Sofie, thank you very much for giving our readers an insight into your journey at GLYN. Let’s jump right in: Why did you choose the trainee career path?”
Sofie: “With pleasure! After completing my business studies, I felt uncertain about my professional direction. I didn’t really know what the next step should be. Through a career platform, I came across the GLYN trainee program. It offered exactly what I was looking for: guidance through insights into different departments. For me, it was the ideal start to gain experience in sales and product management and to discover my professional strengths.”
GLYN PR: “That sounds like a great entry point. How long were you a trainee at GLYN?”
Sofie: “A little over a year. During that time, I learned an incredible amount. One particular highlight was my stay at the Sales Office in Brunn am Gebirge in Austria.”
GLYN PR: “Exciting! What did you have to do in order to take part in the assignment abroad?”
Sofie: “The placement is a fixed part of the trainee program. For me, it was a big surprise and at the same time a real privilege. It’s a special opportunity to gain international experience.”
GLYN PR: “We’re glad to hear that. What expectations did you have when you went to Austria?”
Sofie: “I was excited. Business trips were completely new territory for me. Privately, I had traveled a lot, but professionally I hadn’t yet. Still, I started this experience with an open mind and great anticipation.”
GLYN PR: “That’s easy to imagine! How long were you there, and what tasks did you take on during your time on site?”
Sofie: “I was there for three weeks. During that time, I got to know both inside sales and field sales. My main focus was on inside sales.”
GLYN PR: “In three weeks, you can definitely gain a solid impression. What did your daily work routine at the Sales Office look like?”
Sofie: “Very diverse. In the mornings, we coordinated as a team, and afterwards there were emails, customer phone calls, and even cold calling — always with a lot of support from experienced colleagues. Robert’s direct feedback after the conversations was extremely helpful for me. Time really flew by incredibly fast.”
GLYN PR: “That sounds like a very interesting daily routine.
Were there any tasks that challenged you in particular?”
Sofie: “Definitely cold calling. At the beginning, I was quite nervous. But with courage, good preparation, and support from the team, I faced this challenge.
A real highlight was my first customer visit. Touring the warehouse on site and seeing how GLYN products are used and further processed was truly impressive.”
GLYN PR: “It sounds like you settled in very well. How did you experience the teamwork?”
Sofie: “Very warm and welcoming. I was accepted right away and quickly felt like part of the GLYN family. The team atmosphere was harmonious, and I could ask questions at any time.”
GLYN PR: “What did you take away from this experience for your future path?”
Sofie: “Above all, self-confidence. I learned how to travel on my own, take responsibility, and step out of my comfort zone. These experiences showed me how diverse and exciting sales can be — especially the direct contact with customers.”
GLYN PR: “You successfully completed your trainee program. Where are you today?”
Sofie: “Today, I work as a Technical Sales specialist with a focus on display solutions, supporting our customers in this area. Many experiences from the trainee program — especially my time in Brunn am Gebirge — still help me every day.”
