Compact PMIC for three Voltages: Precision in minimal Space

ABLIC S-19560

Especially in highly integrated designs with limited space, the S-19560 voltage regulator from ABLIC (distributed by GLYN) truly shows its strengths. It significantly simplifies power design while ensuring a stable and precise voltage supply.

It combines two step-down DC/DC converters with an LDO voltage regulator. The compact HSNT-8(2030) package (2 × 3 mm) is extremely space-saving and ideal for applications such as small camera modules, portable medical devices, and space-constrained embedded systems.

20% smaller PCB footprint
The regulator requires 20% less mounting area compared to comparable solutions when building a four-channel power supply circuit using 1× S-19560 and 1× S-19255 (LDO), including external components.

The PMIC is available in various voltage configurations, with different power-on sequences, startup times, and shunt options.

In this example circuit, the regulator has been specifically configured to meet the requirements of a camera application.

  • The S-19560BAJA-AT1U7 used here features the following configuration:
  • Vout1: 3.6 V  Vout2: 1.1 V  Vout3: 1.8 V
  • SEQ3: Ch1 → Ch3 → Ch2
  • Soft start: 320 µs
  • With integrated shunt

A standard version for industrial applications is also available: the S-19560BABA-A8T1U7, with the following configuration:

  • Vout1: 5.0 V  Vout2: 3.0 V  Vout3: 3.3 V
  • SEQ3: Ch1 → Ch3 → Ch2
  • Soft start: 320 µs
  • With integrated shunt

The input voltage range of the S-19560B is from 4 V to 16 V.

Customizable configuration
The S-19560B can be individually configured for higher-volume applications:

  • Voltage ranges / current: Vout1: 3.3–5.0 V / 0.6 A Vout2: 0.9–3.0 V / 0.7 A Vout3: 0.9–3.3 V / 0.3 A
  • Start-up sequences: SEQ1: Ch1 → Ch2 → Ch3 SEQ2: Ch1 → Ch2 & Ch3 (simultaneously) SEQ3: Ch1 → Ch3 → Ch2
  • Soft-start times for Vout1 and Vout2 (Vout3 always 130 µs): 320 µs, 640 µs, 1280 µs
  • Discharge shunt: With or without discharge shunt

The PMIC solution enables significant cost savings through a reduced component count and simplified assembly. At the same time, it greatly simplifies the design, minimizing development time and effort. Its high level of integration results in substantial space savings—ideal for compact applications.

In addition, the PMIC contributes to energy efficiency and ensures high precision in voltage regulation. It also delivers excellent reliability, even under demanding operating conditions. Last but not least, the solution meets key automotive standards such as AEC-Q100 and supports PPAP, making it particularly suitable for quality-critical applications.
