Use the S-821A/1B series from ABLIC for the safe protection of 1-cell lithium-ion batteries in metal housings. Developed for maximum safety and performance, these innovative protection ICs offer numerous advantages for demanding applications.

1. Compact and safe battery operation:

Thanks to high-side protection with N-channel MOSFETs, the S-821A/1B ICs effectively prevent short circuits via the metal casing of the batteries.

This allows for a compact setup of multiple batteries without compromising on safety.

2. Low power consumption for maximum efficiency:

The S-821A/1B series impresses with extremely low power consumption. With a power-save signal pin, consumption can be reduced to a maximum of 50 nA – ideal for energy-sensitive applications and extended battery life.

3. Comprehensive protection for a longer service life:

With integrated overcharge, overdischarge and overheat protection, as well as the industry-leading triple boost charge pump, these ICs ensure reliable control and safety for the batteries. The three-stage overdischarge protection detects abnormal currents and protects against load short circuits. This increases the longevity of the batteries used.

  • Recognition voltage for overcharging: 3.50 to 4.80 V ±15 mV
  • Recognition voltage for deep discharging: 2.00 to 3.00 V ±50 mV
  • Charging function at 0 V at the battery (allowed, not allowed)
  • Current consumption in operation: 6.0 µA typ
  • Self-current consumption in deep discharge (automatic): 50 nA max.
  • Self-current consumption in power-saving mode (external PS signal): 50 nA max.
  • Maximum operating voltage: 28 V
  • Operating temperature range: -40 to 85 °C

You can choose between two variants: the S-821A and the slightly more precise S-821B. Both ICs are available in very small SNT-8A (1.97x2.46x0.5 mm) and WLP-8V (1.08x1.52x0.35 mm) housings.
