Hands-On Customer Report:
TOSHIBA Digital Isolators in Action

Digitalisolatoren von TOSHIBA

During our visits to development departments, we consistently receive positive feedback about our products and SUPPORT. We would like to share this information with you so that you can benefit from it.

Today, we would like to show you how the use of TOSHIBA digital isolators can pay off in an automation system.

The challenge

Developers working on a project for a high-availability automation system were faced with the following challenge: "How can I ensure maximum electrical safety, highest signal integrity and, at the same time, robust interference immunity for our device? And ideally over the next 5 to 10 years?

After extensive market analysis and discussions with our specialists, the choice fell on digital isolators from TOSHIBA. The technical evaluation revealed three decisive advantages that make this solution more than just meet the requirements of modern electronic designs.

Enhanced safety for long-lasting systems

A decisive factor was the enhanced magnetic isolation barrier. TOSHIBA digital isolators offer isolation with a life expectancy of up to 70 years at 1200 V. For the developers, this meant valuable planning reliability. After all, system failures are not an option in safety-critical applications. This high life expectancy ensures valuable operational reliability and longevity for the developed device. The technology not only meets standard requirements, but also sets new standards in terms of long-term stability.

Highest signal integrity with maximum performance

The automation system requires extremely precise signal transmission. TOSHIBA isolators deliver the best results here with bandwidths from DC to 150 MHz and extremely low pulse distortion. They are therefore ideal for use in high-end applications such as building automation, medical technology and industrial control. The developers were particularly impressed by the easy integration into the existing layout thanks to the standard housing formats.

Robust against interference – even under harsh conditions

Electromagnetic interference immunity was an absolute must in the specifications. With a common mode transient immunity (CMTI) of up to 200 kV/µs, TOSHIBA digital isolators offer impressive interference suppression. In EMC tests, TOSHIBA modules were well above the market average – a real advantage for harsh industrial environments.

Good performance from manufacturer and distributor

According to our customer, it wasn't just the product that impressed – the technical support provided by our specialists was also very helpful. From the initial design review to long-term product support (including redesign and product selection for subsequent generations), we were able to provide our customer with a competent team. This was a decisive factor for the developers, as a competent partner saves development time and costs.
