QUECTEL System-on-Modules (SoM) with LTE Cat 4:
Optimized for AI Algorithms and Multimedia

QUECTEL SoM modules SC200E/SC206E with LTE CAT4 on the GLYN test bench:
According to the manufacturer, these modules are ideal for demanding applications such as video processing, AI algorithms and real-time data analysis.
Let's take a closer technical look at the two modules.

Both modules are based on the Qualcomm® QCM2290 chipset, which contains a quad-core Cortex-A53 64-bit CPU clocked at 2 GHz and an Adreno™ 702 GPU with a dual-core image processing system (ISP).
The integrated video system has a 1080P 8-bit H.264/H.265 @30 fps encoder and a 1080P 8-bit H.264/ H.265 VP9 @ 30 fps decoder.
The SC200E uses the Android 12/13/14 operating system, the SC206E the Linux operating system (Kernel 5.4).
The two modules differ in terms of memory size:
SC200E:
- 2 GB + 16 GB (LPDDR4X eMCP, default)
- 3 GB + 32 GB (LPDDR4X eMCP, optional)
SC206E:
- 1 GB + 8 GB (LPDDR4X eMCP, default)
- 2 GB + 16 GB (LPDDR4X eMCP, optional)
Radio:
SC200E and SC206E have an LTE module (3GPP Release 10) 2x USIM 1.8/2.95V, Wi-Fi (2.4 & 5 GHz, 802.11a/ b/ g/ n/ ac), Bluetooth (Bluetooth 2.1 EDR/ 3.0 HS/ 4.2 LE/ 5.0 LE), as well as GNSS (GPS/ BDS/ GLONASS/ Galileo/ QZSS/ SBAS).
There are 4 antenna connections (Main/ Rx-diversity/ GNSS/ Wi-Fi & Bluetooth
Connectivity:
- USB (2.0/3.1 Type-C)
- UART (3x up to 4 Mbps)
- SD card (SD 3.0, 4-bit SDIO)
- I2C, SPI, ADC, GPIO, PWRKEY
Display control:
- LCM (4-lane MIPI DSI, HD+ (1680 × 720) @ 60 fps)
- Touch panel (Capacitive touch panel, controlled by I2C)
Test and conclusion:
Using the SMARTEVBG5-INT-KIT, we put the two SoM modules into operation via the manufacturer's TE-A board, tested the functions and were able to write our first software via Linux. This experience

The two TE-A boards with the modules can be plugged onto the board or starter kit. For Android it is the SC200EGLNA-E53-TA0AA, for Linux the SC206EGLNA-E53-TA0AA. Commissioning was easy and straightforward. The modules impress with their exceptionally high system performance in combination with connectivity. We can therefore particularly recommend the modules for POS terminals, hand-held industrial tools and automotive electronics.
