History: Kingston Technology was founded as a result of a serious shortage of surface mount memory chips in the high-tech market in the 1980s. The founders John Tu and David Sun were determined to solve this problem and combined their unique engineering know-how and designed a new single-in-line memory module (SIMM) that worked with older, always available through-hole components. This successful combination spawned a new technology, a new industry standard, and resulted in the creation of the new company on October 17, 1987.
