A quartz crystal with a stable oscillation frequency of 32.768 kHz forms the heart of the RTC. The integrated circuit converts this constant clock signal into seconds, minutes, hours, and the date. Even during a power outage, battery buffers or energy storage devices ensure that time continues to run correctly—continuously and precisely.
