With the addition of the BG27 to the EFR32 family, the manufacturer has created what is currently the smallest representative. The BG27 comes in the impressively compact WLCSP39 package with dimensions of 2.291 mm x 2.624 mm x 0.5 mm. But that's not all! SILICON LABS has also expanded the BG27 family with variants in the QFN32 and QFN40 packages, which offer even greater flexibility with 4 x 4 mm and 5 x 5 mm, respectively.
The highlight lies at the heart of the BG27 - a powerful 32-bit ARM Cortex®-M33 core with DSP and a floating-point unit. This impressive interaction enables the realization of state-of-the-art applications in combination with Bluetooth 5.4 to provide you with a first-class user experience.
And the power supply? Don't worry, the manufacturer has thought of everything. The BG27 supports an extended voltage range of 0.8 - 3.8 volts, giving you more freedom in choosing your power source. The integrated power supply circuit of the BG27 variants in the QFN Package are available in either 1.8 to 3.8 volt buck DC-DC or 0.8 to 1.7 volt boost DC-DC versions. The WLCSP39 variant combines buck and boost DC-DC, allowing the BG27 to run effortlessly on just one alkaline or coin cell.
But that's not all - the DC-DC of the BG27 has a special surprise up its sleeve. With an integrated charge counter (coulomb counter) you keep an eye on the energy consumption and get reliable information about the remaining runtime of your application. So you are always in the picture and can manage the power optimally.
