This is what ABLIC Inc. offers with its surface-mountable TMR sensor IC (Tunnel Magneto Resistance) S-5701 B-series. This magnetic sensor IC offers a very low operating current of only 160 nA combined with high magnetic sensitivity and a long service life.
We have compared the limitations of the reed switch with the advantages of the TMR sensor IC:

Advantages over other MR sensor ICs
Unlike other MR sensor ICs such as anisotropic magnetoresistive (AMR) or giant magnetoresistive (GMR) sensor ICs, the TMR sensor IC S-5701 B-series features high sensitivity and extremely low power consumption.
The main technical features of the S-5701 B-series at a glance:
- Average operating current at 3.3 V supply voltage: 160 nA.
This corresponds to about 1/6 of the current consumption of a regular AMR sensor IC. - Operating voltage range: 1.7 to 5.5 V
- Operating temperature range: -40 to 125 °C
