FTDI Design Made Easy

FTDI was founded in Scotland in the early 1990s by the experienced ASIC developer, Fred Dart.

The Head Office is located in Glasgow, with regional sales and support offices in the USA, Taiwan and China and a development centre in Singapore.

"FTDI Chip puts itself in the position of the hardware developers, so that each module not only offers the highest performance but also guarantees simple implementation and a minimum development cost," says Fred Dart, CEO of FTDI Chip.

FTDI are specialists in developing simple and quickly deployable solutions for USB applications.

The company combines USB serial (USB-RS232) and USB-FIFO silicon solutions with
"ready-to-go" USB drivers, thereby enabling easy USB migration.

FTDI's complete solutions offer reduced development and debug costs and shorten the time to market.

FTDI SuperSpeed USB 3.0 Bridge Devices

T60x Series: The FT60x is the first SuperSpeed USB3.0 series from FTDI that offers USB access to a wider range of data intensive imaging and data acquisition applications.

The series incorporates two devices – the FT600 and FT601, which function as SuperSpeed USB3.0 to FIFO bridges, providing up to 5 Gbps of bandwidth.

The FT600 comes in a 56-pin QFN package and has a 16-bit wide FIFO bus interface.
The FT601 comes in a 76-pin QFN package and has a 32-bit wide FIFO bus interface.

Both chips support up to eight endpoints, with two additional communication endpoints,
allowing for up to four data IN and 4 data OUT channels to be created with double buffering of up to 4 kByte length for IN and 4 kByte for OUT.

The USB solutions from FTDI are characterised by their easy integration into existing applications without additional firmware development or driver development according to the maxim, "just fit and forget".
