The new compact TO-Leadless SMD package (TOLL) reduces component size by 27 % compared to a conventional D²Pak package.
Yet it offers higher current capability, lower RDS(ON) and improved heat dissipation.
Reduced switch-on and switch-off losses
Thanks to the additional Kelvin source connection, the influence of the parasitic inductance of the source connection in the enclosure can be reduced. This reduces the switch-on and switch-off losses. Compared to the TK090N65Z with the same voltage and on-resistance in the TO-247 without Kelvin connection, the TK090U65Z has up to 68 % less switch-on losses and 56 % less switch-off losses.
Combined with the low input capacitance of the DTMOS VI technology, this results in a 40 % improved FOM factor (RDS(ON) x Qgd) compared to the previous chip generation.
This leads to a considerable gain in efficiency when used in modern, fast-switching applications.
Therefore, the components are particularly suitable for fast-switching applications such as DC-DC converters, switching power supplies, PFC circuits or photovoltaic inverters.
